Slack alerts for big moves

Rank-tracking dashboards are great but they require checking. Slack alerts flip that around: Slack pings you only when something genuinely changes. Done right, you spend zero time monitoring and never miss a meaningful movement.

Connect Slack

1. Go to Settings → Integrations.
2. Find Slack in the list and click Connect.
3. You're redirected to Slack to authorize our app. Pick the workspace and the default channel for alerts.
4. Authorize. You're bounced back to SEMOptimiser with a green "Connected" badge.

Configure rank alerts

1. Go to Rank Tracking → Alerts.
2. Click New alert rule.
3. Pick what to monitor: all keywords, a specific group, or a single keyword.
4. Set the trigger: any movement of N positions, or movement past a threshold (e.g. "drops out of top 10").
5. Pick the channel and the schedule (instant, daily digest, or weekly digest).
6. Save.

What the Slack message looks like

Each alert includes the keyword, the location, the old position, the new position, the direction (with an arrow emoji), and a link back to the keyword detail view. Daily digests aggregate everything into one threaded message.

Multi-channel routing

You can have different rules post to different channels. Common pattern:

• #seo-wins: any keyword moves into the top 3.
• #seo-emergency: any keyword falls out of the top 10.
• #seo-daily-digest: everything else, once a day.

Other event types

Slack alerts aren't just for rank changes. You can also alert on:

• New critical issues from a scheduled audit.
• A page falls out of Search Console's indexed-pages report.
• A campaign in the Campaign Tracker module drops in CTR by more than 20%.
• AI Overview status changes (your brand was cited, then wasn't).

Pausing alerts

Each alert rule has a toggle. Pause it for vacation or during a planned migration when you expect lots of noise. The rule keeps its config; flip the toggle back on to resume.

Other notification channels
