Image packs appear when Google predicts that a visual answer will satisfy the query. They typically show four to eight thumbnails linking through to Google Images with the source URL.
When they appear
Common triggers include product queries, how-to guides with visual steps, design inspiration searches, and queries involving people, places, or objects that benefit from a picture.
Example
Searching "scandinavian living room ideas" returns an image pack near the top of the SERP because the intent is visual browsing.
How SEM Optimiser reports it
Image pack presence is captured in each SERP snapshot. Winning an image slot requires descriptive filenames, meaningful alt text, and images that are properly sized and served via next/image or an equivalent optimised pipeline.
