Referring domains are usually a stronger indicator of link-profile strength than raw backlink counts. Ten links from ten different domains typically carry more weight than a hundred links from a single domain.
Why the distinction matters
Search engines apply diminishing returns to multiple links from the same source. The first link from a domain passes the most signal; each subsequent link passes less.
Example
A blog with 5,000 backlinks from 40 referring domains is usually less authoritative than one with 500 backlinks from 350 referring domains.
How SEM Optimiser reports it
Referring domain counts, growth rate, and topical distribution are all tracked on the link-profile dashboard.
